River Bend Bookshop
Independent, Local, and Community-Driven
River Bend Bookshop is a vibrant community hub designed to foster authentic connections through the power of story. Since its inception, River Bend has been a standout in the Connecticut literary scene, earning accolades such as "Best Independent Bookstore" by Connecticut Magazine and consistently topping the Hartford Courant Readers’ Poll.
History & Mission
Founded by Meghan Hayden in 2018, River Bend began as a humble pop-up before opening its first brick-and-mortar location in Glastonbury. Meghan envisioned a "throwback" bookstore experience with a modern flair—a place where neighbors could connect over shared stories.
The shop’s success led to the launch of the River Bend Book Truck, a mobile bookstore found at festivals and markets across the region, and the expansion into the heart of West Hartford’s Park Road neighborhood.
