Hartford Gay Men’s Chorus
The Hartford Gay Men’s Chorus is a Hartford-area choral group that brings people together through music and community. You can learn more about the chorus on their official site: hgmc.org.
I joined in the fall of 2025, and it quickly became one of my favorite ways to stay connected to the region. Rehearsals are focused and welcoming, and you meet people from all over Connecticut.
Fun fact: not everyone identifies as gay, and not everyone identifies as a man. The chorus welcomes a range of identities, and that mix strengthens the group and the sound. You are just required to sing in the TTBB range.
The chorus typically presents two main concerts each year: a Holiday Concert and a Spring Concert. These shows bring in audiences from across the region and give people a reason to gather and celebrate together.
You’ll also see the chorus out in the community throughout the year. They sing at events around the region, including performing the National Anthem at sports games.
